The things that look like potatoes are the tubers from the ornamental sweet potato vine, Ipomoea.

Those spiky things are Jerusalem artichokes (Helianthus tuberosus), also called sunchokes. You can eat them but I planted them. They produce tall yellow flowers in the fall.
